Unlike jazz, which calms, comforts or sooths the emotions, blues has always set a mood outside of calming or soothing. You'll find blues in much of todays music like Wu-Tang Clan, Everlast, Def Squad, Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, R. Kelly, and Shirley Ceasar. You won't hear anything smooth like Brandy or Erika Badu.
